How to get to Knebworth: By train, the station you want is Stevenage, not Knebworth. Trains run direct from King’s Cross St Pancras, Finsbury Park, Cambridge and Peterborough, and King’s Cross to Stevenage takes about 20 to 25 minutes. At recent Knebworth shows the promoters have routed all attendees through Stevenage and given no event access from Knebworth station, despite it being closer.
Knebworth Park sits in Hertfordshire, around 29 miles north of London, directly off Junction 7 of the A1(M). Getting in is straightforward. Getting out is the part that ruins people’s nights, and it is worth planning before you book anything.
By car: how to get to Knebworth
Onsite parking is available but must be booked in advance and separately from your ticket. It sells out. Route instructions are emailed closer to the event.
From the south, the car parks are reached via Junction 7 of the A1(M) northbound. From the north, leave the A1(M) at Junction 8 southbound and join the B656 London Road towards Rush Green. At Iron Maiden the car parks opened 11am to 8pm on the Friday and from 10am on the Saturday.
Note where you park. The estate is a field, not a multi-storey, and finding a silver hatchback at 11pm is its own event. Fans have reported taking two to three hours to clear the site after previous shows, so pack water and something to eat for the wait, and do not plan anything for the following morning.
Following Liam Gallagher’s 2022 shows at Knebworth, fans reported significant traffic delays getting out of the car parks.
(I was there in the crowd at the Liam Gallagher shows in 2022. One of us was designated driver and we left before Liam’s final song (Champagne Supernova) but still sat in tailbacks for over 2 hours.)
By train
Use Stevenage. Direct services run from King’s Cross St Pancras, Finsbury Park, Cambridge and Peterborough, with a journey time of roughly 20 to 25 minutes from London.
Do not plan around Knebworth station. It is closer to the park, but the promoters have consistently routed everyone through Stevenage and closed off event access from Knebworth. Several guides online still tell people otherwise.
Book your train in advance and check the last services before you travel. For Liam Gallagher in 2022 the official advice was blunt: do not travel by train, because there are very limited services after the show to get you home. Knowing how to get to Knebworth and planning your route back beforehand will save you hours of waiting.
Shuttle bus from Stevenage
There is normally a shuttle between Stevenage station and the site, pre-booked separately, most recently run by Big Green Coach.
The catch, and this is the one to remember: at Iron Maiden in July 2026 the shuttle was one-way only on show days. It did not run back to the station after the show on either night because of traffic restrictions. Anyone heading back to Stevenage had to walk a signposted pedestrian route of about 1.5 miles or arrange a taxi. The shuttle restarted on Sunday morning for camping ticket holders.
If you are getting a train home, assume you are walking to the station in the dark with tens of thousands of other people. Wear something you can walk in.
Official event coaches
Big Green Coach has been the official coach partner for recent Knebworth shows, dropping off and picking up at the site itself and is running coach packages again for 2027, with pick-up points across England and Wales. Coach and ticket bundles are sold together, with instalment options if you book early. National Express has also run services, from around £40 return.
Coaches are the least painful way to do a Knebworth day trip from outside London, and they consistently sell out. Book them the same week you get your ticket.
Helicopter

Getting home
This is the part people plan least and regret most. Work out your route home before you leave the house.
Trains. Stevenage is well served late. Fast services to King’s Cross take just over 20 minutes, stopping services around 40, and trains run past midnight on most nights. Northbound towards Hitchin, Letchworth and Cambridge thins out much earlier. The 2027 shows are on 11, 12, 18, 19, 25 and 26 September, all Saturdays and Sundays, so check the Sunday-night services in particular.
The walk is the bottleneck, not the timetable. At Iron Maiden in July 2026 the Stevenage shuttle was one-way only on show days. It did not run back after the show because of traffic restrictions, so everyone heading for a train walked a signposted route of about 1.5 miles. Allow 35 to 45 minutes for that in a crowd, plus the time it takes to clear the field. If the show ends at 22:30, you are on a platform somewhere around 23:30. Fine for London, tight for anything with a connection.
Taxis. Do not assume you will get one. The rank will have a queue measured in hours and every app surges the moment 30,000 people open it at once. Book days ahead with a local Stevenage firm, agree a pickup point away from the site, and take a second number as backup.
Driving. Fans have reported two to three hours to clear the car parks after previous shows. Note where you parked, take water, and do not book anything for the next morning.
Coaches are the exception. They pick up inside the venue gates, so no walk and no queue.
Or don’t travel on the day at all
Every method above ends with the same problem: 125,000 people trying to leave a field through a small number of exits at the same time.
Staying nearby removes it (check our guide for where to stay for Knebworth 2027). At The Pop-Up Camp, unofficial Oasis Knebworth accommodation, you arrive on the Friday, walk 200m to and from the Knebworth estate gate, and head home on the Monday when the roads are clear.
