Glastonbury camping: what to know before you go

For most people, Glastonbury means camping. Five days, one field, a few thousand new neighbours and a tent that has to survive whatever June decides to do. Here’s how to make it work.

Is camping included with a Glastonbury ticket?

Yes. A general admission ticket includes camping on site, and you pitch wherever there’s space in the camping fields. Campervans and some other options are booked separately, and the festival says more on campervans, parking and accommodation is coming soon.

When to arrive

The festival runs from Wednesday 23 to Sunday 27 June 2027, and the gates open on the Wednesday. Simple rule: the earlier you arrive, the better your pitch. Turn up later in the week and you take what’s left.

Where to pitch

  • Near the action means short walks and not much sleep.
  • Further out means quieter nights and longer walks home.
  • Near the toilets feels clever on Wednesday. By Saturday, less so.
  • On a slope? Avoid it if rain’s forecast. Water goes downhill, and so will you.
  • Pick a landmark you can find in the dark. Flags help, but so does everyone else’s flag.

Your tent

Bring a tent you’ve actually put up before, ideally a size bigger than you think you need, so there’s room for bags and wet kit. Peg the guy ropes out properly and keep valuables with you, not in the tent.

Or make it easier

Not everyone fancies carrying a tent across a farm, and that’s fine. Pre-pitched tents and glamping take the carrying, pitching and packing away out of it, and you get a proper bed and better facilities in return. Our sibling, The Pop-Up Hotel, has been doing the luxury version at Glastonbury for years, and The Pop-Up Camp does the relaxed one, with pre-pitched tents and bell tents off site and shuttles to the festival.

We’re at Glastonbury 2027 too. The Pop-Up Camp Glastonbury sits on a plateau looking out over the Somerset countryside, with our own shuttles to the festival day and night, food and drink around the clock, and hot showers and proper loos. Pitch your own, bring the van or go furnished bell tent. You’ll need a festival ticket to stay with us. Book your spot!

The Pop-Up Camp is independent and not affiliated with Glastonbury Festival. Ticket and travel details from official festival and rail announcements, checked 27 September 2026. Always check the official festival website before you travel.
